About the Position
We are seeking a Biosafety Program Scientist IV to join Pond & Company’s growing Science & Technology team in our Life Science & Industrial Division. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in delivering expert services across multiple projects, encompassing operational planning, laboratory operations, training, biosafety, biosecurity, CBRN and solutions for a broad range of domestic clients and international partners, including the private sector, academic research institutions, US federal agencies, and international organizations.

This role will require extensive travel (50%) but can be based remotely anywhere in the Continental United States. All Pond & Company positions require participation in at least one in-person interview as part of our hiring process, and most roles also require in-person onboarding at a Pond office location; candidates for remote roles should expect to meet directly with our team and should be cautious of any communication suggesting otherwise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert in operational planning, training (laboratory, regulatory, and hands-on), biosafety and biosecurity, facility and laboratory operations, cybersecurity, CBRN and incident response.
  • Support business development efforts through bids, proposals, and industry engagement.
  • Develop and contribute to project deliverables.
  • Adhere to project schedules and timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all deliverables.
  • Foster positive client relationships and develop solutions.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments and trends in the industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field; PhD highly preferred. Alternatively, 10 years of CBRN, biosafety, or biosecurity experience may substitute for a MS degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years in biosafety- and biosecurity-related roles.
  • In-depth expertise in CBRN, cybersecurity, incident response, biosafety and biosecurity regulations, standards, guidelines, and industry best practices, with a proven ability to interpret and apply this knowledge to develop and deliver tailored client solutions.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and self-driven work ethic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent teamwork skills; ability to thrive in both autonomous and collaborative settings.
  • Ability to travel 50%; some travel may be international, therefore a current valid passport or ability to quickly obtain one is required.
Certification Requirement
  • At least one certification or ability to obtain a Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP) or Registered Biosafety Professional (RBP) certification; alternative certifications may be considered.
Work Environment Requirements
  • Frequent travel (up to 50% or more) required for this position.
  • Must adhere to strict safety protocols when working in construction and facility environments with diverse hazards and maintain compliance with Pond’s safety program.
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the position, which may include lifting, bending, standing, and walking.
Additional Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Able and willing to undergo U.S. Government security clearance process.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in or managing containment laboratories/facilities is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience supporting or managing biosafety and biosecurity programs, including implementing physical security upgrade projects.
  • Prior experience supporting and managing projects on behalf of US Department of State or US Department of War.
  • Prior experience leading and implementing biosafety, biosecurity, CBRN or incident response capacity building programs in Southeast Asia, Africa, or the Middle East.
  • Familiarity with containment facility systems, physical security systems, laboratory construction, commissioning, and verification activities is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret facility design documents and blueprints.
  • Supervisory experience.
