ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking two energetic and creative Content Creator & Storytelling Assistant to help document and share the impact of our work through photos, videos, interviews, and authentic storytelling.

This is an excellent opportunity for college students or early-career candidate interested in communications, journalism, nonprofit work, social media, marketing, photography, or digital storytelling.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Content Creator & Storytelling Assistant will attend pantry hours, youth programs, volunteer activities, community events, and special initiatives to capture photos, videos, testimonials, and behind-the-scenes content.

This role will help collect and organize media that supports newsletters, fundraising campaigns, social media, outreach, and storytelling efforts. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, dependable, and comfortable interacting with diverse communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation & Event Coverage

  • Attend pantry hours, Saturday programs, community events, and special activities
  • Capture photos and short-form videos for storytelling and social media use
  • Document behind-the-scenes moments, event highlights, and community engagement
  • Support visual storytelling that highlights dignity, impact, and service

Storytelling & Interviews

  • Conduct informal interviews with volunteers, staff, participants, and community members
  • Gather testimonials, stories, and authentic impact-based content
  • Help identify meaningful moments that reflect MY Project USA’s mission

Media Organization & Support

  • Organize, label, and upload raw photos and video content
  • Maintain a library of media and content assets
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure important activities are documented
  • Assist with reels, TikTok clips, and short-form social media content when needed
  • Support broader communications, fundraising, and outreach initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Strong photography and videography skills using a smartphone or camera
  • Ability to capture high-quality photos and videos in community, event, and youth-centered environments
  • Experience creating social media content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency with content creation and design tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
  • Ability to create flyers, social media graphics, event promotions, and basic marketing materials
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to develop engaging captions, short stories, and social media posts
  • Comfortable conducting informal interviews and gathering testimonials from participants, volunteers, and community members
  • Strong organizational skills for managing digital media files, photos, and video assets
  • Reliable transportation and ability to attend community events, pantry hours, youth programs, and weekend activities
  • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and communicating effectively with the Communications Manager
  • Professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and comfort interacting with diverse communities
  • Passion for community service and MY Project USA's mission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Portfolio demonstrating photography, videography, graphic design, social media content, or storytelling work
  • Experience managing or contributing to organizational social media accounts
  • Experience creating Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts, and other short-form video content
  • Coursework or experience in communications, marketing, journalism, media production, photography, graphic design, or related fields
  • Experience with nonprofit, community-based, youth-serving, or volunteer organizations
  • Knowledge of social media trends, analytics, and audience engagement strategies
  • Basic video editing skills including transitions, subtitles, audio enhancement, and formatting for multiple platforms
  • Experience creating content calendars and supporting communications campaigns
  • Ability to write compelling impact stories that support fundraising, outreach, and community engagement

SCHEDULE

This is a part-time, flexible role that may include:

  • Pantry hours
  • Saturday programs
  • Community events
  • Volunteer activities
  • Evening or weekend assignments as needed

Availability on Saturdays and during major events is strongly preferred.

This role may also be structured with:

  • Guaranteed weekly hours during active periods
  • On-call / as-needed event coverage

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a primarily in-person, community-facing role involving:
  • Youth programs
  • Free Clinic
  • Pantry operations
  • Volunteer events
  • Community outreach activities
  • Staff, volunteers, and diverse community members

Candidates should be comfortable working in active event environments and moving between indoor and community-based locations.
