What You Will Do The Nuclear Materials Science Group (MST-16) is seeking a highly motivated Electrical or Mechanical R&D Engineer (R&D Engineer 1/2) to support the 40mm Impact Test Facility. This role centers on implementing and optimizing diagnostics systems for velocity measurement of materials subjected to shock events. You will work in multidisciplinary teams alongside technicians, scientists, and engineers to maintain, upgrade, and lead impact test operations in secure nuclear facilities. What You Will Do The Test Engineering Group (V-14) is responsible for system level testing that includes project initiation, experimental design and analysis, hardware design and analysis, and fabrication for small component level up to full scale integrated tests. Test activities will include collaborations with W- and Q-Divisions, the hydrodynamic test program, dynamic materials experimental programs, joint test operations with Sandia and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, and supporting experiments performed at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).
