Job Description The mission of the Division of Disease Control is to safeguard the health of New Yorkers through the identification, surveillance, treatment, control and prevention of infectious diseases, using a racial justice framework and population-specific strategies to prioritize addressing inequalities in disease control Reporting to the Commissioner of Health, the Deputy Commissioner is responsible for overseeing and managing the Division of Disease Control. The Deputy Commissioner will provide leadership support on key public health and infectious disease control matters, with oversight of a $350 million budget and leadership to over 1,300 staff in the following programs: Public Health Laboratory (PHL); Public Health Clinics; Tuberculosis Control (TB); Hepatitis, HIV and STI; Communicable Diseases; Immunization; Division Management & Systems Coordination; HIV Planning Council.
