Job Description Day to Day: A soil materials tester spends the day performing field and laboratory tests to ensure soil meets project specifications. They travel to construction sites to conduct compaction and moisture tests, collect samples, and observe earthwork operations for compliance. Travel will be up to two hours away and reimbursed. There will be a company vehicle provided in most instances. Throughout the day, they record accurate data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to engineers and project managers. When needed, they analyze samples in the lab for classification and density. At the end of the day, they maintain equipment, upload reports, and plan for upcoming assignments.
