The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (“MFCU”) is a specialized unit in which the attorneys work as a team with MFCU investigators and analysts to investigate and prosecute Medicaid provider fraud throughout Illinois. Assistant Attorneys General (“AAGs”) are required to prosecute criminal cases and litigate civil cases in Illinois State and Federal courts. Medicaid cases relate to fraud on the Medicaid system, the abuse and neglect of long-term care facility residents and the litigation of civil qui tam cases in state and federal court. An AAG in this position is given the rare opportunity to practice both criminally and civilly.
