Overview The Data & Reporting Coordinator is responsible for monitoring activities required under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as reauthorized by the Juvenile Justice Reform Act (JJRA) of 2018, which established four core requirements that protect youth. These requirements include deinstutionalization of status offenders (status offenders are juveniles charged with a conduct that would not be a crime if committed by an adult), sight and sound separation between adult inmates and juveniles, removal of juveniles from adult jails and detention facilities, and addressing racial and ethnic disparities within the juvenile justice system. This is based on the broad consensus that youth who encounter the juvenile justice system are incredibly vulnerable and need to be protected.
