BASIC FUNCTION Provide patient care on the Medical Intensive Care Unit under the direction of the Pulmonary and Critical Care division. Provide overall medical care and management for patients, exercising autonomy in medical decision-making, serving as the primary patient provider with responsibility for admissions, care plans, procedures, ordering treatments, tests, and medications, with the goal of decreasing the length of patient stay. Function independently to plan, deliver, and evaluate health care for the patients. Promote evidence-based care guidelines including sedation management, thrombosis prophylaxis, central line management and ventilator management. Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions including necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient. Position include day and evening shift rotations.
