This position will be expected to teach or lead up to four introductory Microbiology teaching labs in Microbiology 4000.01. The individual will be expected to lead course discussions, assist with overseeing teaching lab experiments, hold office hours, coordination, and complete related grading and other course related tasks as assigned. The lecturer will advance the learning-based research mission through mentoring undergraduate students in and personally conducting research on bacterial transport of novel sugars used for growth. This includes performing targeted gene deletions and growth analyses of model E. coli organisms predicted to be involved in sugar transport, as well as performing kinetic analyses of sugar transport through pulse-chase experiments.
