What you will be doing: This unique position will assist with the capture, tagging, and acoustic tracking of juvenile Chinook salmon on the Kenai River. Under general supervision, the incumbent will use power boats to travel throughout the Kenai River system, capturing Chinook salmon smolts using multiple methods. Selected smolts will have biological samples taken and be surgically implanted with JSATS (Juvenile Salmonid Acoustic Tracking System) tags for continued tracking. This position will serve as lead for a 3-person crew, weekends required, 37.5 hours/week, from approximately May 1 through August 2026.
