Salary range updated 2/26/2026. Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.

Purpose/Objective:
The Principal Solutions Architect will design and plan the solution architecture as well as provide oversight, guidance and assistance with hands-on implementation of capabilities across multiple technology domains. The Principal Solutions Architect influences, differentiates, and guides business and technology strategies by establishing the robust technical capabilities that will enable Beacon Bank to deploy plug and play solutions in a rapidly changing ecosystem. The Principal Solutions Architect provides technical leadership to the Infrastructure Engineering team in evaluating new products, solutions, and technologies including hands-on proofs of concepts (POCs) collaborating with business stakeholders, vendor resources, and technology groups within and outside of the Bank.
Key Accountabilities:
TECHNOLOGY DISCOVERY: Engage technology vendors to find, evaluate and demonstrate technology platforms that augment and facilitate the Berkshire Bank strategic plan, including direct integration with existing platforms. Work with business stakeholders to find technology opportunities to improve business workflow. Document and design technology and workflow concepts to better communicate business demands and requirements. 25%
SERVICE IMPLEMENTATION: Work with technology vendors throughout the implementation process to assure a smooth launch and transition to IT Support. Document and illustrate technology platform topology and capabilities throughout product implementation. Work directly with Project Management to assure a timely and efficient launch of new technology platforms. 25%
TRAINING AND DOCUMENTATION: Work with IT Infrastructure Support, IT Service Management and IT Corporate Systems to assure a proper transitional handoff from implementation to production and support. Document procedures, designs and topologies, including end-user documentation, to facilitate transitions. 25%
Provide technical and thought leadership to infrastructure and solution engineers, within the Infrastructure Team, to ensure the above accountabilities are appropriately addressed with proper cross-training, resource allocation, and staff development. Primary escalation for immediate staff and remain as high-tier escalation point for further troubleshooting and support for all technology in production. 25%
Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by ones duties.
Education:
Bachelors degree and 5 years of related work experience, or associates degree and 7 years related work experience
Relevant certifications would be Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals, Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect , CCNA, VCP
Experience:
Hands-on engineering implementation and support experience in a wide array of IT Infrastructure platforms
Technical documentation and design experience
Ability to analyze all facets of IT Infrastructure holistically to find best-of-breed solutions for business needs
Ability to deep-dive research all challenges and opportunities facing IT Infrastructure
Skills & Knowledge:
Cloud technology, including but not limited to Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure
Entra ID, Azure Multi-Factor authentication, SSO, Conditional Access, Dynamics 365, Exchange Online, Teams, and other services
Infrastructure virtualization including VMware ESX, vSAN, vCenter, Horizon View (omnissa)
Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI)
SAN Storage concepts
Infrastructure as Code and automation tools
PowerShell, Python, Ansible and others
Windows Server 2008-2025, including DHCP, DNS, Active Directory
High-level networking understanding, including routing, switching, Wi-Fi, VLANs, Perimeter Security, RADIUS
High-level Telecommunications preferred, including Microsoft Teams, SIP, Ribbon SBC, eFax
High-level understanding of Information Security, including MFA, user rights segmentation, firewall, mobile access and VPN concepts
Motivated self-starter; able to work independently or with a group
Ability to communicate in a professional manner with end users and co-workers
Organized, accountable with good time management
Understanding of enterprise-level storage, including Pure Storage and VMware vSAN
