The Indiana University School (IU) of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College. The mission of the Department of Oral Pathology, Medicine, and Radiology is to provide exemplary educational programs, research, and patient care services in diagnostic sciences and medical management of patients.

The department serves as the gateway for the introduction of patients and students to patient care at the Indiana University School of Dentistry.

Job Summary

• Supervises daily activities of patient care services staff and business operation functions.
• Assists in establishing schedules and assigns work.
• Recommends various personnel actions, including but not limited to recruiting, interviewing, selection, hiring, other training, and discipline actions of clinic.
• Manages patient check-in and check-out, centralized scheduling, revenue processing, insurance processing, maintenance of patient records, and compliant use of practice management software.
• Resolves patient care issues.
• Serves as the primary liaison for clinic staff, building operations, faculty and student clinic scheduling, and patient communication with clinic leadership.

Qualifications

This position is posted at the Mastery Career Level but may be filled at the Intermediate Career Level depending on the candidate's qualifications. Although they will be similar, the duties and responsibilities may differ if filled at the lower rank.

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

Preferred

• Associate's degree in medical administration, business, or a closely related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 4 years of experience in a medical office or related setting.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$18.00 - 22.00 per hour based on experience and internal equity.
