RESIDENCE LIFE (BL-RSLF-IUBLA)
Department Information
Indiana University (IU) Bloomington is a public research institution with a total enrollment of over 48,000 students and top academic programs across a range of disciplines. With Big 10 sports, more than 900 student organizations, a vibrant artist community, and plenty of other opportunities for involvement, IU is a campus full of energy and life.
The Office of Student Life, which includes Residence Life, 1 of the 38 departments, is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's IU experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student Life staff aims to help students navigate their time at IU and provide the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond. Students are our priority, and their health, safety, and overall well-being are our core mission.
Resident Life houses approximately 12,000 students, predominately first-year students, in 19 resident centers. Most of the centers are traditional residence halls. In addition to our resident centers, we have 19 Living Learning Centers and Thematic Communities. We are committed to providing a holistic experience for every student. Part of that commitment entails helping students to be actively involved and gain that sense of belonging as they explore the wide range of campus resources and activities.
