The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) supports co-curricular life at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) by fostering engaging programs and leadership opportunities for students. SILC staff work closely with students to help them grow as responsible leaders through hands-on experiences in campus programming and service.

Job Summary

Part-Time Student Event Assistants support program managers and the objectives of Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) Programs. This role supports the planning and execution of a variety of campus events designed to enhance the student and campus community experience - including outdoor movies, live music on Centennial Patio, and orientation activities.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Manages activity areas throughout the IMU during events and programs.
  • Adheres to activity guidelines provided by the program coordinator.
  • Follows all safety protocols and complies with emergency response plans.
  • Staffs information tables at events.
  • Assists with in-person orientation sessions.
  • Collects entertainment resources and helps decorate the IMU as needed.
  • Attends 30 minute biweekly staff meetings.
  • Participates in a semester evaluation with the program coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.

SKILLS

Required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to engage and interact effectively with a broad campus community.
  • Ability to collaborate with various campus departments, resources, and staff members.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with the IUB campus and the IMU to assist with wayfinding and providing accurate directions.

Working Conditions / Demands

The person in this role must be able to navigate assigned buildings for tours and crisis response. The person in this role must be able to move items up to 75 pounds multiple times per shift. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is eligible for work-study.

This is an in-person position.

Advertised Salary

$12.00 per hour

Work Hours

Up to 29 hours per week.

Evening and weekend availability may be required based on the event schedule.

This is a summer only position May 25, 2026, through September 1, 2026.
