JOB TITLE: Bunkhouse Supervisor

LOCATION: Sitka Sound Seafoods

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for all bunkhouse operations. Provides and coordinates employee transportation to and from the airport. Welcomes and orients new employees, assigns rooms as approved by management, maintains records of occupancy, explains and enforces company bunkhouse rules, maintains bunkhouse in a clean, orderly manner. Ensures the safety of all occupants, tracks maintenance. Works with employees to resolve issues fairly in accordance with NSPI values. This is an hourly position that will assist with various plant and office tasks assigned. This position will report to the Plant Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcomes new tenants to bunkhouse. Provides orientation tour of the bunkhouse and explains the rules and required standard conduct. Assigns rooms as approved by management maintain records of occupancy, room inspections, safety inspections, maintenance repairs and requests.
  • Supervises the bunkhouse staff (janitorial and laundry) and oversees the maintenance projects. Ensure the shared spaces (lobby, hallways, laundry areas, rec rooms, etc. are clean and orderly.
  • Manages the distribution of supplies (linens, blankets, toilet paper, etc.).
  • Issues keys as assigning rooms, moves tenants as needed.
  • Perform a weekly inspection of all rooms, and documents findings, while keeping the property well maintained, clean, and orderly.
  • Performs a monthly safety equipment inspection to ensure they are in good working order (fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, emergency exits, and defibrillators.)
  • Resolve tenant complaints and concerns fairly and consistently in accordance with company rules. Works to provide harmonious living conditions throughout the bunkhouse.
  • Enforce established rules and tracks violations.
  • Escalate issues to HR and plant management when appropriate.
  • Coordinate use of laundry equipment and schedule laundry days / hours as needed.
  • Performs check out process with tenants who vacate the bunkhouse to ensure room, furniture, and all property in good condition, (Bedding and keys returned)
  • Perform Basic Maintenance and repairs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
  • Willing to live at bunkhouse and handle critical issues that may happen at any time (nights, weekends, holidays).
  • High degree of integrity and ethics upholds company policies and enforce them fairly and consistently
  • Maintain professional composure in high stress situations.
  • Ability to read and write in English to maintain required records.
  • Able to safety lift 50 pounds (employee luggage, bunkhouse supplies)
  • Willingness to work long hours (+12) seven days a week during peak season.
  • Valid driver’s license and able to drive company van.
  • Willing to follow all plant and bunkhouse rules and model expected behavior for others.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
