Job Description:
The Educational Opportunity Program(EOP) at SUNY Maritime College is currently searching for two part-time tutors to work the nightly study halls during a mandatory five-weeksummer program for pre-freshman from July 6th - August 7th. The tutor will attend all study halls in full and assist students with theirschool work while they are enrolled in Introductory Math 80/90 and English 90 (Introduction to College English). The tutor will alsocollaborate with the English or Math Professor in order to stay current with the class materials and monitor the student's progression inthe class.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Attend all study halls (12 hours per week) for EOPstudents from July 6,
2026 - August 5, 2026, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday evenings
Provide personal, academic andmotivational support for
students
Act as role models throughout the entire summer program
Monitor students to ensure they remainfocused on their
schoolwork
Submit weekly reports to monitor what students are working on and what subjects they are struggling withthat week
Inform
EOP of any concerns regarding a student by email, call or text on that sameday
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher
Demonstrable academic writingskills
Familiarity with MLA reference style of
writing
Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assignedtasks
Strong grasp of the standards of critical
reading and writing in an academic setting
Basic understanding of thecollaborative one-on-one approach to tutoring writing
Inter-personal qualities conducive to one-on-one and small group interactionswith students of various backgrounds
Strong written and
oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in Math, English and/or related field
Experience teaching or tutoring
AdditionalInformation:
Classification/Salary Range: The anticipated hourly rate for the position is $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. Review ofapplications will commence immediately and conclude when position is filled
Special Notes: FLSA non-exempt position that iseligible for overtime monies.
