Department Information

The Indiana University Undergraduate Research (IURR) Office invites applicants for a graduate assistant. This hourly position begins May 18, 2026 and continues through the academic year.

The successful candidate will work closely with the IU Undergraduate Research (IUUR) Program Manager and the Faculty Director to support undergraduate research and creative activity initiatives. This role is structured around 2 primary phases: intensive support of the IUUR Summer Research Program, followed by leadership in managing student ambassadors and coordinating outreach efforts during the academic year.

IUUR is committed to ensuring that vibrant research and creative experiences are accessible to all interested IU students.

Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Summer
    • Assists with the planning, coordination, and day-to-day implementation of the IUUR Summer Research Program.
    • Supports program logistics, communications, and student engagement throughout the summer.
    • Helps coordinate summer events, workshops, and related programming.
    • Contributes to the planning and execution of the Summer Poster Symposium.
  • Academic Year
    • Trains, supervises, and supports IU Undergraduate Research Ambassadors.
    • Coordinates campus outreach initiatives to promote undergraduate research opportunities.
    • Assists with planning and implementing programming and events that increase awareness and participation in undergraduate research.
  • Ongoing Responsibilities
    • Maintains and updates content for the IUUR website and UR Resources Canvas page.
    • Assists with new and emerging IUUR initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a graduate student at Indiana University

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Experience with college teaching and/or undergraduate mentorship

SKILLS

Required

  • Demonstrates commitment to undergraduate education, experiential learning, and/or research related to undergraduate research or the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Ability to work in person in the Bison Student Commons (Briscoe Quad) and other campus locations
