The Space Planning Analyst supports the execution of store-level space allocation, capacity planning, and fleet optimization initiatives. This role is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of merchandise capacity data and the coordination of space layouts for new store openings and remodels. The Analyst acts as a vital link between Merchandising and Store Operations, ensuring that product assortments are physically executable within the footprint of each location.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with data and floor plans, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support space planning activities for new store openings, remodels, relocations, and major store refresh projects
Assist in updating and maintaining store floor plans, fixture layouts, and merchandise capacity data
Help track category-level space allocations and option counts using established planning frameworks
Maintain and update space planning databases, fixture inventories, and related documentation
Assist in analyzing store productivity metrics (sales, inventory, space efficiency) to support planning decisions
Prepare basic reports, spreadsheets, and presentations summarizing space allocation data and updates
Participate in store visits and walk-throughs to gather observations and support validation of floor plans
Collaborate with Merchandising and Store Operations teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment across systems
Support ad hoc analysis requests and space planning projects as needed
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Merchandising, Business Analytics, or related area
1–3 years of experience in Retail Merchandising, Space Planning, Store Planning, or related retail analytics functions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and Google Suite
Highly organized with the ability to manage strict deadlines related to store opening calendars
Desire to continually learn new skills, methods, and technologies as the job requires
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Experience in athletic footwear, sporting goods, or apparel retail
Experience supporting new store development and remodel initiatives in a multi-store retail environment
Understanding of retail stockroom operations and inventory flow processes
