Payroll Clerk

Job Description

  • Competitive compensation $58,000 to $62,000/year

Benefits include:

  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

Primary Purpose:

The Payroll Clerk must possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure with strict timelines.The Payroll Clerk must maintain a focus on detail; be able to apply different administrative and Collective Bargaining Agreement policies through analytical thinking and must possess a working knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws.The position requires an individual who can interface with all departments both internally and on a corporate level and is customer service oriented. The Payroll Clerk will report to the Payroll Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify the accuracy of figures and computations of weekly payroll for more than 1,000 employees in multiple pay groups.

  • Process new hires, personnel changes, direct deposits and tax documents.

  • Research and resolve all payroll related discrepancies.

  • Produce manual checks, process stop payments, voids and reversals.

  • Issue bonus payments, step increases, retroactive payments, special collective bargaining agreement payments, and year-end accrual payments.

  • Ensure all accrual balances are accurate and processed correctly in the timekeeping system.

  • Support all departments with their timekeeping entries.

  • Special projects as needed which may include analysis of payroll data for use by senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of Payroll experience.

  • Must be confident, approachable, flexible and assertive.

  • Strong ability to interpret and explain Collective Bargaining Agreements.

  • ADP Enterprise (EV6) experience preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

  • The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the importance of personal accountability and commitment to excellence.

  • The candidate must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and assertiveness.

  • 100% of work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities

  • Work is accomplished in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer
