Purchasing Agent/Buyer INDY

Job Description

Horner Industrial Group has an opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Agent / Buyer for its Motor Shop division.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Primary duties include but are not limited to; the purchasing of products, parts, supplies, materials and services as related to active jobs, orders and inventory levels. Includes supporting the job estimating process, procurement of necessary job parts, expediting critical purchases and teaming with operations to meet customer due dates. Additionally, requires the use of the company ERP system post transactions, track order status, monitor inventory levels, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Locates vendors, products, parts, supplies, materials, and services to meet Horner's operational and customer needs
  • Secures the best combination of pricing, service, and delivery from vendors.
  • Purchase products, parts, supplies, materials and services used in operations as requested for both inventory and direct use on active jobs.
  • Supports the job estimating process with timely information and pricing.
  • Supports operations with the purchases and timely deliveries necessary to meet customer due dates including expediting delivery as required.
  • Follows up and monitors delivery schedules and provides timely status information to the operations team.
  • Resolves pricing and/or order discrepancies related to received items & invoices.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints and concerns related to products, parts, or materials.
  • Post appropriate transactions in the ERP system and utilize system to track order status, monitor inventory levels, etc.
  • Perform cycle counts and year-end inventory
  • Complete employee credit card logs and submit to Accounts Payable
  • Invoice jobs and sales orders in ERP System
  • All other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years of purchasing or related experience
  • Purchasing in a manufacturing or automotive environment is preferred
  • Must demonstrate good planning and organizational skills
  • Must demonstrate basic proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office products; prior experience with ERP system(s) is preferred but not required
  • Must demonstrate good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills while working with vendors, co-workers and management team.
  • Must be able to maintain a high sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
