Counter Sales Representative

Job Description

Job Summary
We are looking for someone to work with us in our parts & service department as a counter person. The job would require working with customers, working around the mechanics, bringing in stock, working at the cash resister, relaying information to the customer about their repair, and loading equipment into vehicles while delivering great customer service.

This role is open to candidates of all backgrounds and abelites.

Responsibilities

  • Greet the customer, uncover their needs, and recommend a solution.
  • Operate cash register and computer.
  • Participate in mandatory freight process.
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory levels of parts and supplies. Assemble and stock merchandise.
  • Perform janitorial duties.
  • Oversee equipment repair processes and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Support demand planning efforts by forecasting parts needs based on service schedules.
  • Maintain organized records of all transactions, including purchases and repairs.
  • Execute price changes and markdowns.
  • Test run equipment to ensure quality before sending it home with customers.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment

Educational and Experience

  • No experience required. Retail experience and knowledge on equipment and mechanics is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
  • Must be able to lift 60 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt.
  • You will be working around power equipment. There will be gas, oil, and grease. You will need to handle sharp objects such as blades, chains, and tools.
  • Work shifts can vary, but are generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. Overtime is available in the months of March, April, and May.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to load equipment in and out of customers vehicles.
  • Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
  • Ability to move throughout store during an entire shift.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g. dolly, handtruck, computer, cash register).
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to process information / merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
